Questions, and the limits up front.

What RxPortal doesn’t do, what it costs and what happens to your data. If your question isn’t here, email us.

What it doesn’t do

Does RxPortal take payments?
No. RxPortal never takes payment. Prices appear in the portal for reference only, with any VIP discount applied. You bill the way you do today.
Does it connect to our pharmacy system?
No. Your staff enter each order into your pharmacy system as they do now, then tick “Typed into PMS” on the order, so the queue shows what your staff have marked as entered.
Can prescribers e-prescribe controlled substances?
No. RxPortal is not certified for electronic prescribing of controlled substances. Each catalog product records its DEA schedule, and scheduled products can’t be ordered through the portal.
Do we have to stop taking faxes?
No. Prescribers who aren’t on the portal can keep sending orders as they do now, so you can move prescribers over one at a time.

Pricing and pilot

What does it cost?
Pricing is by conversation: it depends on your pharmacy, and we’d rather explain it than post a number that doesn’t fit. Write to [email protected].
Is RxPortal finished?
RxPortal is new and in pilot. Everything described on this site is built. A demo shows exactly what works today, and we’ll tell you plainly what isn’t switched on yet.
Who is behind it?
Pharmvisory LLC, a company in Utah.
Do prescribers pay for anything?
No. Pharmacies use RxPortal and invite their prescribers. Prescribers need only a web browser.

Your data

Can other pharmacies see our data?
No. Each pharmacy’s data is kept apart from every other pharmacy’s, enforced in the database itself, and each portal has its own address and sign-in.
Can we get our records out?
Dispensing records export as a spreadsheet file from inside the portal today. For anything else, ask us and we’ll talk through what you need.
Will you sign a business associate agreement?
Ask us about one. We’ll talk through how RxPortal fits your HIPAA program. The security page describes how RxPortal is built.
